The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)

Modern is a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)* which is a stimulating and inspiring programme that emphasizes intellectual challenge.

It encourages students aged 11 to 16 to make practical connections between their studies and the real world, preparing them for success in further study and in life.

The MYP* builds on the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed by the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), and prepares students for the demanding requirements of the IB Diploma Programme (DP)

As a candidate school, the MYP* at Modern is currently offered in MYP 1 and MYP 2 (Grade 6 and 7) and will grow to add one grade annually to eventually offer students the entire MYP 1 – 5 experiences over the next few years. This will make Modern and IB Continuum school offering the PYP, MYP and DP.

* GEMS Modern Academy is a candidate school for the Middle Years Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.

Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP).
