Sheldon Dias

Assistant IBDP Coordinator

Sheldon earned his Bachelor's and Master's degree in English and a gold medal for the Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Calcutta. He began his career as a journalist and continues his passion for publications, having led the editorial team for the school magazine – The Modernite – for five editions. He also serves as the Extended Essay Coordinator for the IBDP section of the school and teaches English Language and Literature in both the IB and ISC sections. In 2018, he began teaching Drama for Grades 9 and 10—a role he held for 4 to 5 years. These experiences have afforded him the opportunity to initiate, continue, and contribute to the discourse on the evolution of pedagogical practices.

A firm believer in creative expression as a catalyst for student engagement, Sheldon spearheads the theatre initiatives at Modern and brings his passion for communication, performance, and collaboration into every leadership space he occupies.

Sheldon holds a number of roles in the IB Educators Network. He has presented at the IB Global Conference in Dublin, presented at KHDA WhatWorksX and co-presented at the World Education Summit. He has also moderated and participated in panel discussions at iCAN, the World Metaverse Show, and the Paperworld Middle East Hub Forum. He is currently pursuing both the NPQSL and the NPQH programmes, building on his leadership experience as the Educational Supervisor for Grades 9 and 10 for five years before moving to the IBDP.

Rooted in the IB philosophy and the school’s vision of nurturing proactive, compassionate changemakers, Sheldon draws purpose from creating the very opportunities that once shaped his own journey.
