Sreekala Sureshkumar

Director-Student Welfare Designated Safeguarding Lead

Sreekala Sureshkumar joined GEMS Modern Academy in 2004 and brings over two decades of experience in student wellbeing, counselling, and educational leadership. She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Mumbai, a Master of Education (IB Pathway) from Murdoch University, Dubai, and a National Professional Qualification in Headship (UK).

Across her career, Sreekala has served in diverse roles including School Counsellor, Psychology Teacher (ISC & IB), TOK Coordinator and Examiner, Educational Supervisor for Grades 11 and 12, and Wellbeing Lead. She led the school to secure the Optimus Wellbeing Award in 2022 . After a brief tenure as Vice Principal – Pastoral Care at Delhi Private School, she returned to Modern in 2026 , as Director of Student Welfare, overseeing Inclusion, Counselling, Wellbeing, Careers, Student Councils , other whole‑school initiatives and has recently been appointed  the Designated Safeguarding Lead. She also serves as one of the Wellbeing Excellence Fellows supporting 5 other GEMS schools in their Wellbeing provision.

Deeply committed to nurturing the whole child, Sreekala believes that education must balance academic rigour with empathy, resilience, and purpose. She values strong partnerships with students, parents, and teachers, and remains dedicated to creating environments where young people feel supported, empowered, and prepared to thrive in an ever‑changing world.
